If you follow my facebook page then you may have already seen the story of the 10 yr old autistic boy who was bullied at school....not by the other students but by his teachers and aides.  It is absolutely appalling that someone could treat a child this way.  But,  it is insane that the people involved have not all been fired for it.
(this is the link if you have not read or seen it yet)

I believe that it is our responsibility as human beings to take a stand and come to the defense of those who are being mistreated.  Whether it is bullying in school, discrimination or abuse.  If we don't, then we are little more then animals ourselves.

It seems so simple to me.  You see someone treating someone wrongly, you say something.  I don't expect anyone to jump into the middle of a physical encounter.  You must use common sense when defending others as well as you would in any other situation.  But, whether it's calling the authorities and letting someone know about the offense.  Or whether it is to hold that persons hand and let them know that you will be there for them.  Sometimes, that person just needs to know that someone else cares about them, for them to be able to stand up themselves.

Hey, don't get me wrong....I know that none of us are superheros.  But, we can be someones hero.  Just by making a friend, holding a hand, giving a well needed hug.

I challenge you ~ go hug someone, anyone....A family member or an old friend.  It will make both of you feel good and it is good practice.  Then when you need to hug someone whose hurting you'll be well practiced.

Hi everyone,
This is the first post for Carolina Angel along the Grand Strand.
I wanted to be able to get more info to you when ever possible without having to link into the carolinaangel.com site and republish each time.

I hope that you have checked out the site and have a desire to become apart of our group.
I know that I myself have had a few difficult times in my life when I have felt for the most part, alone.
Times when I wondered if I had any friends at all.  Thankfully, that answer was yes.  But, even then it can be hard to feel any comfort from a distance.

I really believe that if we are ever to be rid of bullying & discrimination, we need to address the problem  and then work together against it.  So many of the horrible things that happen around us everyday....shootings in schools and suicides linked to bullying could have been prevented.  If someone had just taken the time to make a friend.  I really think that we can solve so much of this problem by just making a new friend.  Someone that you wouldn't normally expect to be friends with, could actually turn out the be the very best friend you have ever had.  Because it's our fears and discrimination that keep people from making friends with that one person that no one else will go out of their way for.
How shallow we must be to feel we need to behave that way.

Well, at Carolina Angel, we do not discriminate for any reason. We know what it's like to....be the new kid, to have zits, to be overweight, to be too thin, be a klutz, not have a good role model, to not know where your next meal is going to come from, to not live in the nice house, not be the smart, pretty or popular kid in school.  We stand for Unity (united we can be strong), Peace (peacefully we can resolve issues without violence), Love (knowing that we must love each other as we would wish to be loved, unconditionally), Friendship ( knowing that friends come in all sizes, shapes and colors. Not to mention religions and affiliations).

So, if you have ever known any of these situations....come be a part of Carolina Angel!
